During the 17th century, the Jesuits of Tournon dubbed these slopes ‘Saint Joseph’ in tribute to the Virgin Mary’s husband. Les Archevêques refers to the historic castle of the bishops, the ruins of which can be admired from one of the Seyssuel parcels. The grapes for this wines were sourced from vineyards situated in the northern part of the Saint Joseph appellation.
