This wine has a deep and intense ruby red colour that invites you right into it. The nose reveals dark chocolate, bramble berries, star anise, cloves, cracked pepper and notes of fresh thyme. The smooth, ripe, round tannins make this wine easy to drink while still retaining good structure. This wine is perfect for early drinking and requires no ageing but will easily age 3 5 years if desired. The First Lady is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and has been matured in French oak for 18 months to give it roundness and softness. The winemakers only use older barrels so that the wine does not have a harsh dominant oak flavour but is gently aged for two winters until it is just the right level of elegant.
