Hales is one of Rolf Binders Shiraz based cuvees comprising 89% Barossa Shiraz with the addition of 4% Grenache and 7% Mataro. Most of the Shiraz is home grown from the Stephanie vineyard with 20% of the Shiraz coming from the Light Pass grower Heardon, with the other 25% from Doeke at Seppeltsfield Road whose holdings are opposite Binders famous Heysen vineyard. These vineyards lie along the Western edge of the Barossa Valley. The resultant Shiraz dominant cuvee offers all the power and depth you should expect from the heat of Barossa. Massive berry fruit aromas lead to a full and complex palate with notes of pepper and all spice, finished with ripe, integrated tannins and a rich, vanilla tinged concentration. This is fabulously constructed wine which retains elegance through sheer power.
