Time was when every self respecting British bed sported a paisley bedspread. The iconic design originated in India and came to the UK via soldiers returning home from colonial duties. Woven onto fabric and printed onto wallpaper, the pattern was soon adopted for shawls and named for the Scottish weaving town of Paisley.
