Ben Allen is a contemporary artist, known for his distinctive Pop paintings. Using complex collage techniques, his pieces create a dynamic mash up of popular culture, which work to critique the banal and the mundane and challenge media views on sexuality. ‘Lovetoy Supersize’ is a rerelease of one of Allen’s most popular limited edition prints, recreated on a larger scale for high impact. The print is full of erotic appeal, depicting a woman kneeling seductively against a chair. Yet, Allen draws the focus away from his muse, towards the eclectic bricolage which comprises the background an array of bright colours, text, spray paint, clipping and scraps, which produces texture and tonality to exceptional effect.
