The work of Kristjana S Williams is inspired, in her own words, by ‘the symmetry in all things living’. Her prints work with processes of layering, building the present onto the past and incorporating the grandeur of the natural world to create compelling and arresting imagery. ‘Furdu Fuglar 01 on Gold Circle’ recalls traditional Chinese silk painting. Rich in detail and colour, Williams has created a kaleidoscopic effect by placing a line of symmetry down the centre of the image. Butterfly wings, birds, and beasts merge together in a sumptuous array of colours to create a truly stunning aesthetic. Overlaid onto hand finished, gold leaf, the print exudes splendour, allowing the colours to stand out like beautifully set jewels. This print is signed and numbered by the artist.
