Andrew Millar works with a range of medias to produce a beautiful collage aesthetic in his contemporary prints. Layering gold and silver leaf over instant film, Millar’s pieces are soft and delicate, suffused with an intangible haunting quality and a vintage feel of times past. ‘Diamond Skies’ depicts a woman’s face tilted towards the viewer, a halo of golden light radiating around her head. Using a palette of gold leaf and dark, sepia brown, punctured with tiny gems of colourful dots, Millar captures the light and shadow of his subject with breathtaking dexterity.
