The 1985 vintage is now drinking superbly and offers wines which are now fully mature, supple with sweet ripe fruit and softening acidity and tannin. Poyferré is classic classed growth St Julien with notes of pencil lead, roasted meats, blackberry and spice. It has a lovely rich texture, wonderful purity of flavours and is very long, drink it between now and 2010.
