The cut out in the receiver plates are slightly angled so the casement fastener arm locates into the wider part and as the handle is turned, the arm rises into the narrow part of the plate, pulling the window in tight. The antique brass finish is achieved by taking highly polished items of Brass and then applying the Antique coating, followed by a final coat of lacquer.
