‘Vitruvian Woman You Can Do Anything!’ is a play on Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Vitruvian Man’ a drawing done to demonstrate the perfect proportions of a man’s body, which is seen in the background of the piece. This print is to do with woman's empowerment a liberation, a freedom to do what they want. Gerry Baptist says of this work You can do anything! they are kicking Vitruvian Man in the balls. What do you mean perfect man what about perfect woman! As one girl I showed it to said I love the idea of a print that celebrates the equality of the sexes. The fact that the women are dancing naked suggests empowerment to me, a freedom to do what they choose. these beautiful women are shown here using the halftone effect layered over colour, and ‘You Can Do Anything!” across the top in wonderful handwritten font. An astounding five colour screen print by Gerry Baptist, this print is from a limited edition of just 25.
