The work of Louise McNaught takes its inspiration form the natural world raising the status of animals and creatures to the majestic and sublime, McNaught creates bold images, using striking colour and compositional techniques. ‘Underwater Love’ depicts two, beautiful seahorses, one in neon yellow, the other in hot, raspberry pink, their tails entwined against a matt grey background. Almost creating a heart shape with their profiles, the loved up sea creatures trail delicate lines of bright paint across the print, adding dynamism and texture to the image. ‘Underwater Love’ is a print of striking power, not only aesthetically in its breathtaking use of colour and composition but in its comment on the natural world and the pertinent reminder of our delicate relationship with nature.
