The work of Louise McNaught draws its inspiration form the natural world raising the status of animals and creatures to the majestic and sublime, McNaught creates bold images, using striking colour and compositional techniques. There is a graphic beauty to ‘The Architecture of Alchemy’ against an ice blue background, a pair of ethereal insect wings hover, almost abstractedly, without attachment. From the wings steak vein like lines of paint, as though the painted image has slipped down the canvas. McNaught’s print is a triumph of colour, composition and concept ‘The Architecture of Alchemy’ is not only aesthetically powerful, but a pertinent reminder of our delicate relationship with nature.
