The work of Louise McNaught takes its inspiration form the natural world raising the status of animals and creatures to the majestic and sublime, McNaught creates bold images, using striking colour and compositional techniques. For ‘Soul Mates Pink’, McNaught employs her signature ‘bleed’ motif, where thin lines of pink paint run down the print, producing a sense of dynamism and flow.The trail of pink paint has been created by two, graphite grey elephants, who stand at the centre of the print, their pink painted trunks entwined. McNaught gestures towards the significance of the animal in Asian religious cultures, by adding henna patterns in hand applied golf leaf a delicate and textured touch, that sits beautifully against the hot pink and soft grey tones.
