For his loyalty to Barossa growers during the wine slump in early '80s and his winemaking skills, Peter Lehmann became known as The Mentor. His contention that the Barossa is capable of making the best wine in the world . . . and extends far beyond shiraz was the reason for elevating cabernet sauvignon to greater prominence in introducing The Mentor premium wine. The Peter Lehmann Mentor Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz Malbec 2009 is mainly cabernet with the other varieties in a supplementary role. A limited release, it is a rich and rewarding wine, ready now and will continue to develop for up to a decade. Mentor is an ideal accompaniment for rich duck, goose and game dishes. It is superb with oxtail, braised lamb shanks.
