Founded in 1868 by the famed oenologist Antonio Carpene Malvolti, the winery has been a crucial contributor to the history and study of Prosecco and is now run by the fourth generation of a family that specialises in the making of sparkling wines. Grapes for the Prosecco di Conegliano are selected only from the best hillside vineyards in the DOC Treviso area. Carpene Malvolti Prosecco Spumante Rose Brut is described by the winery as a noble and complex wine dedicated to high altitude tasters. It is made from Pinot Noir and the local Raboso grape, lightly macerated, to give a wine with delicate summer fruit aromas and intense red fruit and mineral flavours. With fish risotto, baked salmon, eel, creamed cod, veal, poultry and rabbit. Excellent with sheep and goat cheese.
