The Sierra Salinas winery was founded in 2000 in Villena, in the DO of Alicante, to make modern wines mainly from traditional indigenous grapes. Hand harvested from mature vines, the grapes are cool fermented before a brief maturation in French oak. Deep violet tinged crimson, this wine offers a pleasing balance between youthful vigour and polished maturity. Bramble and cherry combine with lightly savoury spice and balsamic flavours. A great match for rustic Mediterranean stews.
