Late Bottle Vintage Ports LBV's are made from grapes of a single year. They are aged in oak casks for up to 6 years before being bottled, at which point they are ready to drink and being lightly filtered require no decanting. Cockburn's LBV is an intense assertive wine with bags of character. It is youthful and impulsive in style, deep red in colour and with aromas of damson, mulberry, summer fruits and chocolate. It leaves an intense sensation on the palate, and has a full feel, with some complexity from its wood ageing. The fortified element is well married to the wine presenting a harmonious balanced feel. The finish is long and attractive. Cockburn's LBV works well with blue cheese, strong Portuguese cheese try St Jorge or Serpa or savoury dishes with a cheese component. It also complements nuts, dark chocolate dishes, good pate or jamon. Serve at cool room temperature or if preferred very slightly chilled.
